Im April gab Stephen Ellery mit einem Orchester mehrere Konzerte in Ghana und begeisterte u.a. auch mit Musik von Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, James Bond und sogar Queen, wie “We will we will Rock you”. Das Orchester spielte, Ellery dirigierte und blies teilweise Saxophon. Das Publikum tanzte vor Begeisterung!

Neben dem Saxophon beherrscht er auch die E-Gitarre und Klarinette.
Stephen Ellery spricht neben seiner Muttersprache Englisch auch Deutsch, Russisch, Japanisch, Italienisch, Polnisch, Spanisch, Französisch und Portugiesisch.

Als seine “musikalische Spezialität” bezeichnet er Symphonische Musik aus Russland (u.a. von Tschaikowski, Rachmaninow, Mussorgski, Borodin, Kalinnikow, Skrjabin, Schostakowitsch, Prokofjew und Swiridow), Zeitgenössische polnische Musik (u.a. von Lutosławski, Penderecki, Bujarski und Górecki), Englische Musik (Walton, Britten), Lateinamerikanische Musik (u.a. Márquez, Revueltas, Villa-Lobos) und Spanische Musik von Granados und Turina.

Biography

Stephen Ellery will begin the 2015/2016 artistic season with conducting ‘Carmen’ Opera at German Burg Wertheim. He has been also invited to cooperate with St. Martin in the Fields London, London Gala Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic, Gunma Symphony, Tokatsu Opera.

Stephen Ellery has worked with numerous orchestras, opera theatres and choirs in Japan (Tokyo City Philharmonic, Osaka Philharmonic, Gunma Symphony, Tokatsu Opera, Kansai 21 Century), South America (Filarmonica de la Ciudad de Mexico, Sinfonica Nacional de Peru, Sinfonica de Arequipa, Sinfonica de Trujillo) and in Europe. He has conducted many concerts in Poland, for instance in: Lublin, Kielce, Katowice, Radom, Płock, Cracow.

He has given concerts with Kłajpedzka Chamber Orchestra, Krasnojarska Academic Orchestra, Philharmonic in Hanoi, Locrian Ensemble of London in England.

Between 1995-96 Stephen Ellery was the second conductor at Pacific Ocean Symphony in Vladivostok, whereas between 1996-97 he performed the function of the second conductor at the National Opera at Yakutsk. He conducted symphonies of Mahler, Prokofiev, Sibelius, Bruckner and Tchaikovsky’s operas (Iolanta, Eugene Onegin). His professional achievements include the performances of such operas and ballets as Traviata, Rigoletto, Giselle, Don Kichot. During his stay in Yakutsk Ellery created a youth orchestra with whom he has given concerts multiple times. He was on tour with youth orchestras in, inter alia, Waltham Forest in London and in Gunma, Japan.

Stephen Ellery studied conducting at Maestro Ilyi Musina in St. Petersburg. He conducted London Symphony Orchestra. He is the laureate of numerous international conducting competitions (Bartok International Opera Conducting Competition, Fitelberg international Conducting Competition in Katowice).

Stephen Ellery also play saxophone. In 1989 he performed in Berlin, celebrating the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
